How to achieve your ideal weight without strenuous exercise or a special diet

What follows are only some of my own personal thoughts and ideas I have on this volatile topic of body weight!

Growing up, I never had a problem of being viewed as overweight, unlike the apparent epidemic in our modern society. On the contrary, I was a skinny adolescent, with a serious problem of how to gain weight and improve my self-esteem. I tried taking weight gaining supplements in conjunction with exercise with weights, in order to gain the right kind of weight, of course. Gaining some strength but not much weight I finally gave up on this approach and then tried a method that worked. All it took was a couple of years of adding hot dogs, chocolate milk and apple pie to my daily diet! It wasn’t really the kind of weight and physical appearance I was looking for, ideally, but I felt much better because I didn’t look skinny any more and felt more acceptable in social circles, they being so highly self-conscious and competitive as they are.

Looking back, and years later, I realized that I had put too much emphasis on my physical appearance to determine my self-esteem. A high school classmate of mine had no problem with self-esteem and shyness even though he was skinnier than me and had a bad case of acne! What he did have, in my estimation, was a sense of self-worth linked directly to his interest and passion for music, leading to his formation of his own jazz band. So…

The ‘Easy Way’ technique for deep relaxation

This is a technique that directs energy to every part of the body, awakening each cell and allowing each cell to rejuvenate itself. Do not underestimate its power or effectiveness because of its seeming simplicity — this is only the beginning!

  1. Lie down on your back, with your head propped up on a pillow, arms at your sides.
  2. Place your attention on your right foot. Think only of your right foot — feel it if you can. Hold your attention there for about 10 seconds (silently count to ten if that helps).
  3. Shift (move) your attention to your left foot. Hold your attention there for the next 10 seconds.
  4. Continue to shift your attention to the rest of your body, each time holding your attention there for about 10 seconds.

Rolfing — one method to effectively release past emotional scars

Ida Rolf, as explained in her book rolfing, recognized how emotional traumas have left deep-seated emotional ‘scars’ in her patients. Using her system of deep massage (which evolved from her practice as a chiropractor), she realized that not only was she making structural adjustments to the physical body, she was also releasing emotional traumas. Sometimes, during her treatments, her patients would relive long-forgotten experiences which formed the scars in the first place.

The solar plexus — a common trouble spot

The Solar Plexus is the common name for a network of nerves in the area just above the belly button. It is not important to know what the physical functions of this set of nerves is, only that this general area is directly affected by one’s emotional state, and in turn affects the stomach and all of the nerves, muscles and connective tissues in the immediate proximity.

Mystics have long known about this ‘emotional centre’ that has given us so much trouble. The great Tibetan saint Milarepa of the 11th century, who spent years meditating in a cave, knew that to achieve his goal of freedom, one of the things he had to do was to release himself from the bonds and grip that the emotional centre had over him.

Welcome to my natural healing blog!

Welcome to my blog about natural healing: the many varied approaches to natural or alternative healing and self healing, reviews of healing methods, what’s new in the field of alternative medicine, and what you should know about traditional methods. These are only some of the topics I will talk about. This is only the beginning!

My name is James Davidovich, creator of the Active Healing method of self healing and author of Active Healing and Body Restoration. Alternative methods of healing are not just things that I am interested in and spend time researching. This is an area of research and experience that I plunged into by necessity due to many debilitating physical conditions I grew up with and sought to alleviate, first with conventional methods which did not work, and then with alternative methods that gave me only limited success. This ultimately led me to discover methods that did work for me and which are also described in my book.

I invite you to subscribe to my blog as a primary or additional resource for the many aspects of alternative healing and energy healing in the context of alternative medicine and the many conditions (read diseases, illnesses) it strives to cure or alleviate. My aim is to increase your awareness of what is going on in the healing field, what to watch out for, to expose the mythologies upon which some treatments and theories are based, and help you with your own goals with regards to your own healing concerns.
